Speaker: Dr. Brandon Cyrus, AuD

Dr. Cyrus brings both professional expertise and personal experience to his work with individuals managing tinnitus. His first experiences began in adolescence, after years of target shooting and hunting, during which he noticed temporary ringing and reduced hearing even with hearing protection.

During graduate school, he became aware of a constant ringing while working in sound-treated environments. Testing showed normal hearing with reduced high-frequency otoacoustic emissions, consistent with noise exposure.

In his final year of training, increased stress, poor sleep and anxiety made his tinnitus more noticeable. As a result, he developed effective coping strategies, including sound therapy and attention-shifting techniques. Over time, he reached a state of habituation, and his tinnitus no longer affects his daily life.

Dr. Cyrus now uses both his clinical training and personal experience to guide others. His approach focuses on practical strategies, education and reassurance that tinnitus can become manageable.
